Pinellas County and Family Center on Deafness to host free event for Deaf and hard-of-hearing community

Pinellas County and the Family Center on Deafness will host their third annual Deaf Fest on Saturday, Aug. 10, to provide resources and information to the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

The free event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Florida Botanical Gardens, 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo, in the Magnolia Room. The event will be open to the public, and American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters from AQI Interpreting Services will be available to assist attendees.

Information and resources from the County and community organizations will include:

  • Alert Pinellas emergency notifications and the Ready Pinellas app, including features for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals
  • Live chat on the Pinellas County website and during emergencies
  • Text to 9-1-1
  • Alert equipment for the Deaf
  • Pet preparation for hurricane season
  • Free hurricane kits while supplies last
  • Free wellness screenings and immunizations
  • A raffle for a chance to win a gift card or gift basket
  • General information about programs and resources available through participating agencies
