Pinellas County Historical Commission application period extended
Pinellas County has extended the application deadline to serve on the Pinellas County Historical Commission to Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023. This member will fill the remainder of a term expiring Nov. 4, 2024, and will be appointed by by Commissioner Charlie Justice, At-Large Commission District 3.
The Pinellas County Historical Commissioners advise on matters pertaining to Heritage Village, which include:
- Serving as a voice to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) for Heritage Village.
- Serving as an advisory group for the Heritage Village.
- Serving to share their understanding and experience of Pinellas County History.
This board consists of nine members. Seven members are nominated by the individual members of the Board of County Commissioners and appointed jointly by the BCC. One member is appointed by the Junior League of Clearwater/Dunedin and one member is appointed by the Pinellas County Historical Society. The seven members appointed by the BCC serve terms concurrent with that of their nominating commissioner (typically four years). The two members appointed by the Junior League and Historical Society serve four-year terms starting upon the actual date of appointment.
Applications are due by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023. The application can be found online.
