Applications are being accepted for two appointments to the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative (PPLC) by the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners. The term of these appointments will begin on Oct. 1, 2025, and run for three years.
The purpose of the PPLC is to extend library services to unincorporated areas of the county and participating municipalities that do not have such services, and to improve library services for citizens of municipalities and library tax districts that do. This is a volunteer position and there is no compensation.
Criteria for such appointments include:
a) Previous experience serving on a board or similar body and the capacity to evaluate a full range of perspectives from library service providers to library users.
b) Ability to represent the interests of all parties, including the county, the PPLC, members with or without libraries, and patrons.
c) A vision for the future of countywide library services.
d) May not be an employee or member of the governing body of a library.
Meetings of the PPLC Board are generally held on the last Wednesday of the month at the PPLC office in Clearwater. Meetings may also be held at other member libraries or alternate locations.
Applications can be found at www.pinellas.gov/boards. Applications must be received by 3 p.m. on Aug. 20, 2025. The Board of County Commissioners will review all applications and make its selection at an upcoming meeting.
