Youth Advisory Committee

This committee advises the BCC on issues affecting local youth; assigns members to appropriate County boards and committees; participates in public education and ceremonies; assists with County programming.

Powers and Responsibilities: general purpose is to give student leaders a voice in Pinellas County government and to give the Board of County Commissioners the benefit of student input. Additionally, students may:

  1. Learn about County government and the democratic process;
  2. Serve on additional County boards or committees as requested;
  3. Develop and implement opportunities for other students to learn about County government;
  4. Develop and maintain a network of students from whom the Board of County Commissioners can request input; and
  5. Develop and implement at least one community service project supporting a County function.

Created: Originally established by Resolution No. 01-356 (adopted December 18, 2001), the committee was then reestablished by Resolution 11-78, adopted September 6, 2011, and amended by Resolution 14-94, adopted October 7, 2014, and amended by Resolution 20-82, adopted September 10, 2020.

Membership Description: Committee consists of up to 15 members in grades 9-12 appointed by the BCC upon application of interested members.

Location of meeting varies

All citizens appointed by the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners or an individual commissioner to any county board, committee, council, or authority must comply with these standards of conduct.
