UF/IFAS Extension Pinellas debuts Naturally Florida podcast

UF/IFAS Extension Pinellas and Polk County have premiered a podcast for those interested in learning about Florida’s ecosystems, wildlife, water resources, plants and more. The podcast, called “Naturally Florida,” provides information on natural resources in the state that listeners can easily access on-the-go.

Now available on most podcast platforms, “Naturally Florida” features hosts Shannon Carnevale and Lara Milligan, Natural Resources Agents for UF/IFAS Extension Polk and Pinellas Counties respectively, exploring wildlife species, relevant natural resource issues, Florida’s ecosystems, and listener-suggested topics. Each 15 to 20-minute episode will include ways listeners can help support our natural resources to make a positive impact on Florida’s environment.

The podcast will be Florida-specific, research-based and conversational in nature. Listeners can submit questions or topic suggestions online at www.naturallyfloridapodcast.com.

  • Episode 1: “Lara’s Favorite Species – Green Anoles” Learn all about Florida’s native green anoles (pronounced “uh-noles”), and their nonnative look-alike, the brown anole.
  • Episode 2: “Where does water go after it falls?” Shannon and Lara explore the journey of rainwater and what happens to it after it hits the ground.
  • Episode 3: “Wait, we have fireflies in Florida?” This episode features Florida’s fireflies, their basic biology, where to go to see them, and habitat requirements.
