Florida-Friendly Landscaping Incentive Program
Thank you for your interest in the Pinellas County Florida-Friendly Landscape Incentives Program (FLIP). It has been a successful 5-year pilot program!
We are not taking applications at this time, but hope to continue the program in the future. Please check back in early 2025 for more information.
The Florida-Friendly Landscaping Incentive Program (FLIP) is a program designed to reduce the amount of water and fertilizer Pinellas County residents use on their lawns.
You may be eligible for a 50% rebate, up to $2,000, to replace a portion of your irrigated landscape with water-conserving microirrigation and Florida Friendly Landscaping™!
What is Florida-Friendly Landscaping™?
Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ (FFL) uses low-maintenance plants and environmentally sustainable practices. You can have a beautiful landscape that will save you time, energy and money while protecting our local waterways. For more information, visit UF-IFAS Extension Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program.
Why microirrigation?
Microirrigation, also called drip irrigation or low-volume irrigation, delivers water directly to the root zone of the plant. Low-volume watering allows slow percolation into the soil and reduces stormwater runoff, which is Pinellas County’s top source of pollution.
Am I eligible for the program?
Currently, the FLIP program is available to homeowners and businesses within the following watersheds:
- McKay Creek
- Allen’s Creek
- Lake Seminole Basin
To determine which watershed you live in, use this interactive map and type your address in the search bar located in the upper left corner under “Find My Watershed.”
Preferred candidates are willing to:
- Replace a portion of turf grass with Florida-Friendly plants.
- Restructure part of your existing irrigation system to microirrigation.
- Attend a four-part class series for landscaping basics. (Required to receive rebate).
