Project Overview

Pinellas County continues working to restore drainage channels damaged during the 2024 hurricane season. Several channels suffered significant tree damage and debris buildup, affecting the functionality of the channels themselves.

This project is only intended to remove debris from within the flowlines as well as cut and remove downed trees from top of bank to top of bank, stumps may be left to help stabilize the banks. Any erosion or remaining stumps may be the responsibility of the owner to address if outside project scope or on private property.

Note: This project is separate from the NRCS bank stabilization project that Pinellas County has applied for and is awaiting award.

Property Owner Information

For Pinellas County to remove all debris and downed trees within the channels, we must obtain short-term temporary rights of entry from certain property owners. Temporary rights of entry are different from perpetual easements. The County will be unable to clear all obstructions without executed rights of entry.  All future maintenance of private assets within the Channels will be the responsibility of the property owner or responsible party.

Project Funding

This project is funded by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Emergency Watershed Protection Program.
