Kathryn Driver, Executive Director of the Housing Finance Authority of Pinellas County In Washington DC to Discuss Affordable Housing

Kathryn Driver, a Board Member of the National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies and Executive Director of the Housing Finance Authority, traveled to Washington, D.C. to engage with congressional staff on Capitol Hill. The visit was a crucial opportunity for Kathryn and other NALHFA leaders to advocate for association policy positions at the start of the 119th Congress.

During their meetings, Kathryn and the other NALHFA Board members emphasized the importance of strengthening and expanding federal housing programs such as the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, private activity bonds, and Section 8 Housing Voucher federal funding. These tools are essential in addressing the nation’s housing affordability crisis. The discussions also focused on advocating for legislative measures that provide flexibility and additional resources to NALHFA members such as the soon to be reintroduced Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act and increased federal appropriations for Fiscal Year 2025.

The visit reinforced both the Housing Finance Authority’s and NALHFA’s commitment to being a strong voice in Washington for advocating for policies that benefit local housing efforts nationwide. Engaging directly with congressional staff helps strengthen relationships with key decision-makers and reinforced the importance of continued federal support for local housing initiatives. As housing affordability remains a critical issue, Kathryn and members of NALHFA look forward to working closely with both Congress and the Trump Administration to advance association priorities.
