Pinellas County Utilities enhances payment security

Pinellas County Utilities is consistently taking proactive steps to safeguard your personal and financial information. We debuted our new Utilities Customer Portal payment system over the summer to further enhance customers’ experience with our utility. In addition to making it easier than ever to pay your bills online and access your water usage, we are debuting our new secure payment method.

Customers will be directed by a customer service representative to the secure payment system to make their credit or debit card payment. This secure method eliminates the need for you to share your financial information over a recorded phone line.

The secure payment method aligns our services with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards, which are a widely accepted set of policies and procedures that optimize the security of credit, debit and cash card transactions. It also protects cardholders against misuse of their personal information. Additionally, this helps prevent cybersecurity breaches of sensitive data and reduces the risk of fraud.

Once connected to the secure line, you will be greeted by the automated bill payment system message directing you to input your account number. Your billing information will be pulled up and you’ll then be prompted to input your payment information.

Please note processing fees apply on all credit and debit card transactions. You will notice two payment charges on your credit card billing statement. One charge is your utility bill payment and the other is the standard processing fee charge.

Our dedicated customer service representatives are available to help you with account questions or concerns Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by phone at (727) 464-4000 or email at custsrv@pinellas.gov.
