Utilities Education & Outreach

Here at Pinellas County Utilities, our water takes a fantastic journey before it comes out of your tap and after it goes down the drain. Starting in the Floridan Aquifer, water is extracted from the ground by regional supplier Tampa Bay Water and transported to the S.K. Keller Water Treatment Facility. Once clean and safe to drink, water is distributed to homes and businesses throughout the county. After being used, it becomes wastewater and is sent to one of two water reclamation facilities to be cleaned, treated, and used for irrigation or discharged back into the environment. Collectively, Pinellas County Utilities provides a combination of drinking, waste, and reclaimed water services to nearly 700,000 direct and municipal whole sale customers.

The Pinellas County Utilities Education & Outreach Program aims to build a comprehensive understanding of where our water comes from and where it goes, all while emphasizing the importance of responsible water resource usage.
