The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Countywide (JAG-C) provides financial assistance to local projects that prevent and reduce crime and strengthen the criminal justice system within Pinellas County. The anticipated allocation for Pinellas County is $250,000.00. Applicants must demonstrate a clear and direct connection to the criminal justice system.
JAG-C is a pass-through grant of federal funds allocated to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). Pinellas administers a competitive, online application process for JAG-C funding. All applications undergo a three-tiered review process, beginning with a Responsiveness and Completeness Review by Pinellas County Human Services to ensure required submission guidelines are met. Applications deemed complete will then undergo a Fiscal Review by Human Services Business Services to verify that agencies and proposed budgets are fiscally sound and appropriate for the program. Applicants must meet all established eligibility requirements to advance to the JAG-C review committee for scoring. The Substance and Alcohol Abuse Advisory Board will review applications and make funding recommendations for final approval by the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) and the FDLE.
Funding recommendations are contingent upon FDLE’s annual solicitation release and award to Pinellas County. The County and SAAB retain discretion to revise requirements and/or funding recommendations in accordance with FDLE guidance.
