Cremation Fees

Coordinates cremations from the Medical Examiner’s Office

On September 18, 2007, the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners adopted an ordinance that establishes a fee for providing examinations and investigations relating to cremation, dissection and burial at sea effective October 1, 2007.

On October 20, 2009, the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners approved an amendment to the ordinance increasing the cremation fee from thirty-five dollars ($35.00) to forty dollars ($40.00) for each cremation, dissection, or burial-at-sea, effective November 1, 2009.

Accomplishments

Enhancing Services
  • The Division continues to expand attendance and monitoring of supported justice programs and is working on updated data reporting.
  • The Division recently engaged on formalizing the Substance Abuse Advisory Board meetings to foster a structure that allows for action planning and discussion. This will be an ongoing effort.
Sequential Intercept Mapping Efforts

Justice Coordination collaborated with community partners to hold two cross-system planning meetings to help identify local strategies to improve service connections and outcomes for justice involved youth and adults.  These efforts have resulted in ongoing workgroups that will continue to review barriers and solutions for system coordination. The workgroups are broken out into 4 key goals (below) each with a series of action items for planning.

  • System Navigation Action Plan: Establish a sustainable wraparound network that promotes access to services.
  • Housing Access Action Plan: Improve Access to housing (supportive, temporary, affordable etc.) as part of a continuum.
  • Community Awareness Action Plan: Promote community awareness and family engagement in prevention, intervention, and diversion services.
  • Reentry & Transition Action Plan: Develop formalized reentry processes to prepare recently incarcerated residents for transition into the community.

Justice Coordination Success Stories

Amari Morris, RMHVI
Westcare Mental health Counselor, Outpatient

‘I’ve had the pleasure to work with a client that has shown stabilization in multiple areas of their life. Through the course of treatment, they have established care for their mental and physical health. With their mental health, they have demonstrated a decrease in severity of psychological symptoms. With their physical health, they have received referrals for specialty providers and have learned techniques to improve their condition. This client has enrolled in the Pinellas County Health program, gained employment, and maintained sobriety throughout the duration of treatment. Overall, they report increasing their self-awareness, acceptance of who they are, and resilience. This client reports WestCare playing a significant role in their journey of recovery’.

Nancy J Hohnholz, LMHC
Westcare Mental Health Counselor, Outpatient Services

While working with CCRP, I’ve had the opportunity to provide services to many individuals. One client in particular, Deanna (whom I recently contacted for an update on her progress insisted I use her name). After a successful discharge from CCRP, she enrolled at St. Pete College and began working toward her associate degree. She is employed full-time as a Case Manager for the Pinellas Ex-Offender Reintegration Coalition and is running a Peer Support Recovery business in her spare time. Deanna told me while in our program that she wanted to “pay it forward” and this is exactly what she’s doing. I look forward to hearing more about her achievements and congratulate her for her success!
