Affordable Housing Advisory Committee vacancy announced

Applications are now being accepted to fill vacancies on the Pinellas County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee to complete a three-year term beginning on Nov. 1, 2026. 

This Committee is composed of a minimum of eight but not more than 11 members appointed by the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners. Currently, the committee is looking to fill positions from the following categories:

  • A person in the residential home building industry in connection with affordable housing
  • An advocate for low-income persons in connection with affordable housing
  • A not-for-profit provider of affordable housing
  • An individual who resides within the jurisdiction of the local governing body making the appointments

The State Housing Initiative Partnership Program (SHIP) Affordable Housing Advisory Committee reviews the County’s SHIP Local Housing Assistance Plan and evaluates established County policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and comprehensive plan to provide recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) that facilitate affordable housing while protecting the ability of property to appreciate in value.

Annually, the Committee evaluates the implementation of the County’s affordable housing initiatives and submits an Affordable Housing Advisory Committee Housing Incentives Review and Recommendations Report to the BCC and the State.

The Committee may also perform other duties at the request of the BCC, including but not limited to the creation of best practices for the development of affordable housing and provision of mentoring services to affordable housing partners.

The Committee meets approximately four times per year. Meetings are typically scheduled on the first Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m. in the Palm Room at 333 Chestnut Street, Clearwater.

Mandatory applications may be found on the Boards, Councils and Committees page at pinellas.gov no later than 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026. The Board of County Commissioners will review all applications and make its selection at an upcoming meeting.
