Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant applications sought

Pinellas County is accepting applications for funding through the federal fiscal year 2023 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Countywide (JAG-C). JAG-C is a pass-through grant of federal funds awarded to Pinellas County by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) through the Bureau of Justice Assistance. 

JAG-C funds programs within Pinellas County that offer a high probability of preventing and controlling crime and/or improving the criminal justice system. To be eligible for JAG-C funding applicants must be a local unit of government, a political or law enforcement agency, or a not-for-profit organization. 

JAG-C projects must also serve one of the following federally approved purpose areas:

  1. Law enforcement programs
  2. Prosecution, courts, and indigent defense programs
  3. Prevention and education programs
  4. Corrections, community corrections, and reentry programs
  5. Drug treatment and enforcement programs
  6. Planning, evaluation, and technology improvement programs
  7. Crime victim and witness programs
  8. Mental Health programs

This grant will fund projects performed October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025. Pinellas County typically funds several projects with an average program budget of approximately $25,000. The County has been allocated a total of $270,837.00 for the current JAG-C solicitation.

Pinellas County was notified that Neighborly system went down between 11am to noon today.  In order to allow time to complete submission of initiated applications, the JAG application has been extended through 3pm today, June 21, 2024.  The application will close promptly at 3pm today.
