Mark Sprague named Director of St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport

Pinellas County Administrator Barry A. Burton today announced he has named Mark Sprague the Director of St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE).

Since 2015, Sprague has played a pivotal role in the growth of St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport, first as Deputy Director and most recently as Interim Director, where he guided strategic planning, oversaw daily and emergency operations and led construction planning for a new terminal building and parking structure.

Sprague’s career in aviation spans 25 years, including flying as an Airline Transport Pilot for both Comair and Spirit airlines.  He later worked in airport operations at both Ronald Reagan Washington National and Washington Dulles International airports.

“Mark melds diverse work experience in the pilot seat, the boardroom and the community to keep our airport operations safe, efficient and productive,” said County Administrator Burton. “His expertise in operational analytics, emergency response, FAA and TSA compliance, and stakeholder engagement positions him to lead PIE into its next phase of growth and service excellence.”
