The Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners will vote on four years of proposed increases for water, sewer and reclaimed water rates for Pinellas County Utilities. If your water, sewer and/or reclaimed water services are provided by the County, this will affect you. A public hearing will be held for consideration of these proposed four-year rate increases on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. in the fifth floor assembly room of the Pinellas County Courthouse.
How will the proposed rate changes affect my bill?
Retail Water Rates
The proposed four-year rate increase for FY24 through FY27 increases the monthly base charge for a 3/4 inch meter by $1.25 monthly in each year FY24, FY25, FY26 and FY27, for a Pinellas County Utilities residential customer. The residential volumetric rate per 1,000 gallons for use over 4,000 gallons per month will increase by $3.56, $0.25, $0.27 and $0.30 for FY24, FY25, FY26 and FY27, respectively. The residential volumetric rate per 1,000 for use of 4,000 or less per month will decrease by $-1.30 for FY24, then increase by $0.10, $0.12 and $0.14 for FY25, FY26 and FY27, respectively. The non-residential volumetric rate per 1,000 gallons per month will increase by $0.13, $0.15, $0.16 and $0.19 for FY24, FY25, FY26 and FY27, respectively. Pinellas County Utilities distributes water on a retail basis to the unincorporated areas of the county, within the City of Largo, City of Seminole, Town of Kenneth City and the incorporated areas of beach communities.
Retail Sewer Rates
The proposed four-year rate increase would mean a $0.79, $0.82, $0.85 and $0.88 monthly base charge increase for FY24, FY25, FY26 and FY27, respectively, for a Pinellas County Utilities residential customer. The volumetric rate per 1,000 gallons would increase $0.29, $0.30, $0.31 and $0.32 in FY24, FY25, FY26 and FY27, respectively. The volumetric cap for single family residences is 10,000 gallons per month. The Equivalent Residential Unit (ERU) for commercial accounts is 5,000 gallons per month.
Retail Reclaimed Water Rates
The proposed four-year rate increase would mean an additional $1.00 per month for FY24, FY25, FY26 and FY27 for a typical Pinellas County Utilities residential customer connected to the reclaimed system and paying the availability charge for the service.
