Ridgewood Estates Sewer Improvements

The Ridgewood Estates community has experienced prior sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) due to rainwater entering the sewer system during heavy rainfall. As part of a comprehensive effort to eliminate SSOs, Pinellas County Utilities is replacing a section of the existing sanitary sewer pipes at the east end of 82nd Avenue N and along 113th Street (near the intersection with 82nd Avenue N) with larger-diameter pipes to increase sewer capacity and help prevent future overflows. The project also includes installing a bioswale to filter pollutants from stormwater runoff and extending the sidewalk on 82nd Avenue N to 113th Street.

• Prevents sanitary sewer overflows to safeguard public and environmental health and comply with current regulatory standards.
• Enhances stormwater runoff pollutant treatment to safeguard water quality in natural systems.
• Extends the sidewalk from 82nd Avenue N to 113th Street to improve community access and mobility.

Community Outreach

Pinellas County held a public meeting on November 15, 2023, to inform the Ridgewood Estates community about the project. County staff and consultants were on hand to answer questions about the proposed design solutions and to gather community input.

A future preconstruction public meeting is tentatively scheduled for January 2026. Additional meeting details to come.

Project Funding

This project is funded by Pinellas County’s Sewer Renewal & Replacement Fund.
