Project Status

Project Overview

Pinellas County is planning to replace an aging and deteriorating 12-inch cast iron potable water pipe crossing that is currently laid on the seabed. This pipeline serves as a critical water main supply to the Vina Del Mar Neighborhood. The replacement pipe will be a 12-inch Fusible PVC or high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe installed via directional drilling. This replacement project aims to prevent potential pipe breaks and extend the service life of the pipeline.

Project Goals

  • Replace the deteriorated 12-inch subaqueous cast iron potable water pipe crossing, to prevent failures and service interruptions.
  • Use durable materials installed by directional drilling to ensure longevity and reliability.
  • Extend the useful life of the water main supply line.
  • Minimize uninterrupted water supply to the Vina Del Mar Neighborhood during and after construction.
