Sutherland Bayou Boat Ramp Closing Temporarily for Improvements

The Sutherland Bayou Boat Ramp will be temporarily closed to resurface the park’s roadway and ramp approach. The closure is expected to last from Jan. 5 to Feb. 9, 2026 (weather permitting). There will be no access to the boat ramp or restrooms and no fishing permitted during construction. No changes to the parking areas are planned. The addition of new boat ramps is not included in the scope of this project.

Saltwater – Restroom Facilities Available

This 5-acre boating facility offers direct access to St. Joseph Sound and the Gulf of America. Acquired by Pinellas County in September 2006, this facility is open to the public 24 hours a day and features a boat launching ramp, 50 vehicle and trailer parking spaces, 20 vehicle parking spaces, a designated boat and motor rinse area, and restroom facilities.

Parking Fees:

Vehicle with or without Boat Trailer ……………… $6 daily

  • You must enter your vehicle tag number to use the pay stations.
  • Pay stations accept only credit card payments – Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.
  • Pay by Plate System replaces the need to display parking decals.

History:

The boat ramp’s name identifies the adjoining body of water, Sutherland Bayou. This property was previously privately owned and known as the “Palm Harbor Resort.”
