The William E. Dunn Water Reclamation Facility is a 9-millon gallons per day (MGD) Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant that uses the Bardenpho Activated Sludge Process. This biological process creates special conditions via microorganism activity that removes nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous from the wastewater. The water is disinfected, and 100% of it is beneficially reused, meaning it is converted into reclaimed water that is distributed back to North Pinellas for irrigation. Biosolids created from this process are turned into fertilizer at the South Cross Bayou Advanced Water Reclamation Facility.
