What We Manage

The Water and Sewer division manages water and wastewater treatment facility operations and systems, monitors water quality, enforces water restrictions and manages laboratory functions. Other programs include the Industrial Pretreatment Program and Grease Management Program. This division also educates the general public.

Water Source Information

Pinellas County Utilities customers receive potable (drinking) water from sources that are managed by regional water supplier Tampa Bay Water. Learn more about water resources here.

Keller Water Treatment Facility

Keller Water Treatment Facility is responsible for treating and distributing 55-60 million gallons per day (MGD) of drinking water for Pinellas County residents and visitors. The licensed water treatment plant operators staff the facility 24 hours a day. The team also includes electrical and mechanical technicians to keep the equipment operating. The water treatment facility staff also maintains and repairs the Cross Bar and Al Bar Ranch well fields; the North, Logan, Capri Isle and Gulf Beach Booster Stations; the Oakhurst standpipe and the Fort De Soto elevated storage tank. Water and Sewer Laboratory Unit

Our division is responsible for monitoring water quality, laboratory analysis, as well as evaluation and reporting services for water and wastewater treatment facilities. We ensure safe drinking water is provided to the citizens of Pinellas County, as well as evaluate the environmental impacts of wastewater treatment disposal methods. We have a full-service certified laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment for analyzing drinking water, wastewater, environmental surface, groundwater and biosolids. The Laboratory Unit coordinates with a contract laboratory for other special requests.

Water Reclamation Facility

Reclaimed water is provided by William E. Dunn and South Cross Bayou wastewater reclamation facilities. This water has been cleaned and purified through an advanced wastewater treatment process that eliminates harmful by-products. Learn about our wastewater reclamation facilities here.
