Groundbreaking Ceremony for Dansville Community Park

September 13, 2024, 10:00 am - 10:30 am

A rendering of the plans for the Dansville Community Park, showing a multi-use path around the pond, restrooms, a picnic shelter, benches and open fields.

Please join Pinellas County as we break ground on construction of the Dansville Community Park in the historic Dansville neighborhood, a part of Ridgecrest. Parking will be available onsite from the entrance on Pine Street.

An aerial view of the park with the entrance on Pine street marked with arrows showing where parking will be located on the grass.

Dansville, named for  one of its founding residents, Dan Henry, became a tight-knit, African-American community of about 80 homes built on 80 acres acquired by Dan Henry in 1946. In 1992, a tornado hit the area, destroying 26 homes. Pinellas County and the community have worked together to rebuild and to preserve the area’s unique history. A historic marker at the site of the new park tells the site’s story.
