Sand Key Park to reopen Saturday
Sand Key Park in Clearwater will reopen to the public on Saturday, Dec. 21, following cleanup and restoration after hurricanes Helene and Milton.
The 95-acre coastal park, located at 1060 Gulf Blvd., Clearwater, has been closed since September. In addition to cleanup and restoration, the County ran a sand drop-off site at the park for several weeks.
Sand Key Park is part of the Pinellas County Parks and Conservation Resources system and features a white sandy beach, natural trails and boardwalks, picnic areas, a playground and a dog park. The park is open daily from 7 a.m. to sunset. A daily parking fee of $5 applies, increasing to $6 on Jan. 1. Annual beach parking permits are available for frequent visitors.
In addition to Sand Key Park, Pinellas County is making significant progress in reopening other parks and beach access areas. Here’s an update:
- Fort De Soto Park: The campground’s Area 3 electric service has been repaired and is open. East Beach has reopened, while areas north of the park headquarters remain closed. Beach and boat ramp visitors should use caution, as debris may wash ashore or settle in the water.
- Indian Shores (Tiki Gardens) Beach Access: Scheduled to reopen Saturday.
- Lake Seminole Park: Scheduled to reopen on Saturday, Dec. 28.
- Fred Howard Park causeway and beach area, as well as the beach access areas at Redington Shores and Madeira Beach, are temporarily closed for repairs and debris removal.
