Urban Forestry to host tree giveaway Jan. 18
Pinellas County Urban Forestry is hosting a tree giveaway for Pinellas County residents at the County’s Urban Forestry and Landscape Services Campus in Clearwater from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Jan. 18. The giveaway is in celebration of Florida Arbor Day.
A variety of shade and accent trees are available on a first come first served basis at the campus, located at 4500 126th Ave N, Clearwater. Each household may receive up to two free trees. Trees available may include:
- Red maple (Acer rubrum)
- Sugarberry (Celtis laevigata)
- Green buttonwood (Conocarpus erectus)
- Loblolly bay (Gordonia lasianthus)
- Sweetbay magnolia (Magnolia virginiana)
- South Florida Slash pine (Pinus elliottii var. densa)
- Bald cypress (Taxodium distichum)
- Red bay (Persea borbonia)
- Dahoon holly (Ilex cassine)
Distribution will be by drive-through pickup. Drivers will stop at a queue, select their plants of choice, and then pull up to a loading area to receive them.
