Air Quality Program
Pinellas County’s Air Quality Program is dedicated to preserving, protecting and enhancing our local air quality for the health and welfare of Pinellas County’s citizens and visitors. National and state air quality standards are health-based standards the program strives to achieve and maintain for the health of all county residents.
Program operations include maintaining a county-wide air monitoring network and laboratory, ensuring proper management of asbestos-containing materials in renovation and demolition projects, and maintaining a business compliance program to ensure proper management and control of air pollution.
Throughout the year, various air quality issues and policies come before our elected and appointed officials on the Board of County Commissioners and the Metropolitan Planning Organization. In these instances, air program staff provide technical support and expertise at meetings, workshops, and public hearings to provide a clear understanding of the issues and their potential impact on Pinellas County.
