Project Overview

Pinellas County completed a corridor study for East Lake Road, from south of Curlew Road to north of Trinity Boulevard in Fall 2022. The study examined existing conditions of the corridor, evaluated needs and deficiencies of the roadway, and developed alternatives for improvements to capacity, traffic flow and safety. Concepts for potential improvements to East Lake Road were developed and presented at two project information meetings.

Pinellas will conduct a Project Development & Environment (PD&E) study that will consider the results of the corridor study and evaluate the project’s impact to the social, economic, cultural, natural and physical environment. New alternatives may be developed and evaluated during the PD&E study. Additional opportunities for public input will be provided during the study

    Project Location

East Lake Road is a six-lane divided roadway from Curlew Road to Tampa Road and becomes a four-lane divided roadway from Tampa Road to Trinity Boulevard. The original design of East Lake Road, north of Tampa Road, included a wide median to accommodate future capacity improvements. The corridor is approximately 9.3 miles in length, with nine signalized intersections and one interchange.
