Project Overview
The McKay Creek Greenway was designated by the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners in 1996. The main purpose of the greenway is to connect several existing parks from the Florida Botanical Gardens to John S. Taylor Park.
The McKay Creek Greenway Trail will provide a connection through this extensive oasis in the middle of Pinellas County protecting the County’s natural resources. The trail will connect Heritage Village, the Florida Botanical Gardens, Walsingham Park, Ridgecrest Park and John S. Taylor Park.
Project Location

Anticipated Project Timeline
- Preliminary Engineering Report: Completed June 2023
- Design: Summer 2023 – Late 2025
- Construction: Summer 2026 – Late 2027
Community Outreach
Pinellas County plans to host a Project Information meeting in Summer 2025 to explain the project and answer questions from the community. The latest information can be found here.
