Pinellas County is hosting a project information meeting on the new McKay Creek Greenway Trail at 6 p.m. on Feb. 10, 2026. Pinellas County staff and consultants will share the latest project design, discuss the schedule and answer questions. Please plan to join us. Project Overview
The McKay Creek Greenway was designated by the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners in 1996. The main purpose of the greenway is to connect several existing parks from the Florida Botanical Gardens to John S. Taylor Park.
The McKay Creek Greenway Trail will provide a connection through this extensive oasis in the middle of Pinellas County protecting the County’s natural resources. The trail will connect Heritage Village, the Florida Botanical Gardens, Walsingham Park, Ridgecrest Park and John S. Taylor Park.

Anticipated Project Timeline
- Preliminary Engineering Report: Completed June 2023
- Design: Summer 2023 – Fall 2026
- Construction: Spring 2027 – Spring 2028
Community Outreach
Pinellas County plans to host a Project Information meeting before the end of the Design phase to explain the project and answer questions from the community.
