Project Overview

This project consists of the replacement of the existing vinyl sheet pile wall along the north end of Taylor Lake, drainage improvements along 8th Avenue SW, and repair of the existing pedestrian bridge that joins the sidewalk running along 8th Avenue SW.

New drainage structures with a curb and gutter system will be installed on the south side of 8th Avenue SW, and all existing closed-flume inlets on the north side will be replaced with curb inlets to minimize erosion. The existing sidewalk on the south side of 8th Avenue SW will be widened and the section of 8th Avenue SW from approximately the pedestrian crosswalk to the main park entrance will be repaved.

The water elevation of the lake needed to be lowered for the contractor to replace the existing sheet pile wall and repair the existing weir structure. The lake water elevation was kept lower for most of the construction phase.
