Re-Entry Resources: Housing and Shelters

The Pinellas County Office of Justice Coordination has developed a list of commonly needed local resources that can assist you as you get settled back into the community. The information will help connect you and your family to the critical support services and community resources you need to thrive.

Having a safe and stable place to stay is essential.  Whether it is shelter for one night or a permanent place to stay, there are several resources in Pinellas County that can assist you.

Please note that organizations & agencies may define their housing/shelter programs differently than the broad and general examples below.

Emergency Shelter

Emergency shelters are nightly or short-term help for families or individuals experiencing homelessness.

Pinellas Safe Harbor – Walk-ins welcome at: 14840 49th St. N., Clearwater, FL. (727) 464-8058.

Salvation Army – Emergency shelter, 310 14th Avenue South, St Petersburg (727) 822-4954.

Saint Vincent DePaul, Care Center – services for Veterans located at: 401 15th Street North, St Petersburg, FL. (727) 954-8676.

Westcare, Turning Point – Emergency intervention located at: 1801 5th Avenue North, St Petersburg, FL. (727) 823-7811

Transitional Housing

Transitional housing is temporary housing that helps individuals transition from homelessness to more permanent housing.

People Empowering and Restoring Communities (PERC) PERC has two houses in collaboration with One Unique Transition totaling 21 beds (soon to be near 30) and the Continental Housing Program, which can have up to 120 beds. For more information, call: 1-(855) 505-7372.

Supportive Housing

Supportive housing is affordable housing that includes other support services (i.e., mental health, substance use, etc.) for those being housed.

SPFC Recovery Residence – St Pete Free Clinic provides a series of services including Men’s and women’s recovery residence. For more information, you may call: (727) 821-3894

Subsidized Affordable Housing

Subsidized affordable housing programs are long term housing programs that use subsidies to help pay rent.

Affordable Housing

Affordable housing is housing on which the renters only pay a percentage of their income.

Catholic Charities, Shelters of Hope Catholic Charities provides over 1,800 units of affordable housing to qualified individuals and families. Provides shelter to over 400 individuals through 5 shelters. For more information: 6363 9th Avenue North, St Petersburg, FL. 33710 (727) 893-1314.
