Re-Entry Resources: Important Documents

The Pinellas County Office of Justice Coordination has developed a list of commonly needed local resources that can assist you as you get settled back into the community. The information will help connect you and your family to the critical support services and community resources you need to thrive.

Proper identification (“ID”) is essential to any currently or previously incarcerated individual’s community reintegration plan. Identification is required to open a bank account, take a driver’s test, or get a job. The agencies and organizations listed in this section can provide a starting point to assist those searching for assistance with obtaining ID.

Birth Certificates

The following resources are for individuals born in the state of Florida:

Driver’s License / ID Card

Visit the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) to apply and view requirements for a current driver’s license or an Identification (ID) card.

Social Security Card

To apply for a replacement card, you are required to provide documentation to prove your identity. To apply online, click here. For more information, visit the U.S. Social Security Administration website.


Verification of High School/GED Education

The Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) holds the official records for the High School Equivalency Diploma Program. The Parchment/GED Testing Service provides diploma & transcript services on behalf of the FLDOE. Visit the FLDOE website to learn how to request a copy of your diploma or transcripts.


Residency “Green Card” Renewal & General information

When a permanent resident card or “green card” is granted, the individual is legally allowed to live in the United States. Most green cards are valid for 10 years, at which point they must be renewed. For more information, click here.
