Volunteers and Donations in Disasters

Our community continues to work toward recovery following hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024. You can find information on assistance at recover.pinellas.gov. As we continue to face challenges, we encourage you to get involved as a volunteer or by helping with donations by contacting one of the established organizations or Houses of Worship in our area. Thank you for sharing your time and resources.

Volunteer

Individuals interested in volunteering can sign up via Volunteer Connect, a statewide online portal to match volunteers with organizations that are looking for help. Visit volunteerflorida.org/volunteerconnect. You can register with Volunteer Connect throughout the year to sign up for an opportunity that you would enjoy while providing a much-needed service.

You can also volunteer for organizations through their websites. This is a sampling of some of the opportunities available. Please do not self-report to any site without registering with the organization and receiving information from the agency.

  • Times are hard, and donations help in many ways. The most helpful way to help is to make a monetary donation to a nonprofit organization. The donations are used to assist with specific needs in the community.
  • Stay alert to scams. Before you donate, it is recommended that you verify the registration and financial information of a charity at Check-A-Charity (fdacs.gov) or call (800) HELP-FLA (435-7352).
  • If you would like to donate items, you can contact a nonprofit organization directly through their website.
