Access to the Barrier Islands Remains Closed Today; Providing Rides Off Islands

The Barrier Islands in Pinellas County remain closed today. Deputies and work crews continue to clean up debris and assess the area for hazards and will be reevaluated tomorrow. Deputies will continue to patrol for looters on the barrier islands from 7:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. 
 
Beginning at 6:00 p.m. today, September 27th, buses will be available for free transportation to assist individuals off the barrier islands. The buses will drop off individuals wishing to leave, where they can either get transportation to a shelter or request an Uber to an alternate location. Animals are permitted on the buses. Space is limited, so individuals wishing to leave are asked to bring essentials only.

               Stop 1: 6:00 p.m. to 6:10 p.m.- Dolphin Village at Gulf Boulevard
               Stop 2: 6:30 p.m. to 6:40 p.m. – 107th and Gulf Boulevard
Drop-Off Location: Pasadena Avenue and Central Avenue – Walgreens
 
Mid County:
               Stop 1: 6:00 p.m. – 6:10 p.m. – Park Boulevard and Gulf Boulevard
               Stop 2: 6:30 p.m. – 6:40 p.m. – 174th Avenue and Gulf Boulevard
               Stop 3: 7:00 p.m. – 7:10 p.m. – 150th Avenue and Gulf Boulevard
Drop-Off Location: Publix at 674 150th Avenue (Duhme Road)
 
North County:
               Stop 1: 6:00 p.m. to 6:10 p.m. – Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach
               Stop 2: 6:30 p.m. to 6:40 p.m. – Belleair Beach Causeway and Gulf Boulevard
               Stop 3: 7:00 p.m. – 7:10 p.m. – 5th Avenue (Walsingham Road) and Gulf Boulevard
Drop-Off Location: Publix at 12022 Indian Rocks Road
