Project Update
Beginning on July 24, 2023, the westbound lane of Mehlenbacher Road will be closed between the intersections of Indian Rocks Road and Clearwater-Largo Road for construction of the Mehlenbacher Road Sidewalk Project. The eastbound lane will remain open to traffic.
The temporary traffic control plan for the project includes a detour south down Clearwater-Largo Road to West Bay Drive and back to Mehlenbacher Road via Indian Rocks Road N. The intersections of Indian Rocks Road and Clearwater-Largo Road will remain open during construction.

Project Overview
Pinellas County is proposing sidewalk and drainage improvements on Mehlenbacher Road. The project consists of ADA-compliant sidewalks, curb ramps and driveways, along with drainage improvements to reduce flooding and inflow into the sewer system.
The sidewalk and drainage improvements on the north side of Mehlenbacher Road are from Indian Rocks Road to the Pinellas Trail, and on the south side from Indian Rocks Road to west of Dolphin Drive. ADA-compliant sidewalk, curb ramps and driveways will also be constructed at the intersection of Indian Rocks Road and Mehlenbacher Road.
Mehlenbacher Road will be milled and resurfaced from Indian Rocks Road to just west of Clearwater-Largo Road after the sidewalk construction is completed.

Community Outreach
- Dec. 10, 2018: Pinellas County held a Project Information Meeting at the Belleair Town Hall to provide information about the proposed sidewalk improvements and to answer questions.
