Project ID

Project Location

Ridgemoor Boulevard in East Lake

Project Status

Design: In progress

Project Overview

Pinellas County is replacing the Ridgemoor Boulevard Bridge over Brooker Creek, which serves the Ridgemoor and Tarpon Woods Boulevard communities in East Lake. The new bridge will be constructed in the same general footprint as the existing bridge and includes two 12-foot travel lanes with 8-foot shoulders. The proposed pedestrian facilities include a barrier-separated 5-foot-wide sidewalk on the north side of the bridge that will connect to the existing 5-foot-wide sidewalk. There is also a barrier-separated 10-foot-wide multi-use trail option on the south side to provide a connection point for a potential future multi-use trail (multi-use trail planning has not commenced).

To maintain two points of access to the communities, the construction of the replacement bridge will be phased to allow for one-lane access using temporary traffic signals.

Community Outreach

July 24, 2025: FDOT and Pinellas County held a Project Information meeting to discuss the final bridge design, construction schedule and provide feedback on the options for the traffic control plan during construction from 6 – 7 p.m. at East Lake High School.

Residents noted their preference for two-way traffic on Ridgemoor Boulevard during construction and this was provided to the FDOT project team. Resident preference was measured by the amount of stickers placed on the Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) boards with the different traffic options. MOT Alternative #1 was for Alternating Two-way Traffic on Ridgemoor Boulevard and MOT Alternative #2 was for Inbound Traffic Only on Ridgemoor Boulevard with Outbound Traffic Detoured to Tarpon Woods Boulevard.

Jan. 11, 2024: The Florida Department of Transportation and Pinellas County held a Project Information meeting to help residents learn more about the project and to collect community feedback from 6 – 7:30 p.m., at East Lake High School.

Project Funding

This project is supported by a grant from the Federal Highway Administration, administered by the Florida Department of Transportation, and the Penny for Pinellas.
