Project Update
Phases A & B of the boardwalk trails reopened on Feb. 23, 2024. Phase C is expected to remain closed for safety due to construction through June 2024. Thank you for your understanding.
Project Overview
Pinellas County Parks and Conservation Resources and Public Works are undertaking a project to rehabilitate the existing boardwalk and tower within Sawgrass Lake Park as part of the Countywide Annual Boardwalk, Fishing Pier and Observation Tower Improvements contract.
The contractor, Bayshore Construction, Inc., will rehabilitate the existing boardwalk facilities. Construction activities will be completed in phases and coordinated with Parks and Conservation Resources staff to reduce the impact on visitors. Please follow any signage highlighting closed portions of the boardwalk.
Project Status
Phase A began in July 2023 and Phase B began at the end of November 2023. Construction for both phases (A & B) requires simultaneous closure to ensure public safety. Phases A and B are anticipated to be completed and open to the public in March 2024. Project progress will be updated as rehabilitation continues.

*Please note that the project schedule is approximate and depends on the extent of repairs required during boardwalk rehabilitation activities.
