Re-Entry Resources: Jobs, Training and Adult Education



The Pinellas County Office of Justice Coordination has developed a list of commonly needed local resources that can assist you as you get settled back into the community. The information will help connect you and your family to the critical support services and community resources you need to thrive.
Job hunting with a criminal record can be frustrating. This section provides resources that can help you access the job training and opportunities you need to be successful, no matter your history.


Adult Education
Pinellas County Schools Adult Centers offer a variety of classes from GED preparation to computer literacy. Day and evening classes are held at locations around the county including worksites, community agencies, and recreation centers.
Employment and Training
Open to Young Adults 16-24
Career Source Pinellas – connects businesses with qualified, skilled talent and job seekers with employment and career development opportunities. Professionals and entry level candidates can benefit from workshops, career services, paid training opportunities and other resources.


Youth Connect – provides guidance, support, financial assistance with vocational and academic training, work readiness and job placement services to low-income youth. Eligible people are aged 16 to 24 who have dropped out of school, are ex-offenders, in foster care, homeless, pregnant or parenting, unemployed or underemployed and/or are basic-skills deficient. Training to Work Opportunities
PERC Success Training and Retention Services (STARS) – Program for Pre-employment training, job placement and retention, and support services.
Metropolitan Ministries – Services to help prepare learners with college and career readiness skills that lead to employment.
St Pete Works – Employability training programs assist anyone looking for job readiness training and education.
The Dream Center Workforce Readiness Program – partners with many organizations such as PERC, Pinellas County Jail, and Boley. They help provide training as well as certification for jobs such as carpentry.
