Changing the Way Pinellas County Learns!

MyLearning is Pinellas County’s new learning management system to register for courses, explore learning resources, and view your learning history. You now register for all courses in MyLearning instead of EBS (OPUS).

What is MyLearning? 
MyLearning is the first County-wide Learning Management System (LMS) which is designed to contain all of our learning opportunities, training records, skills, and certifications in a single location. MyLearning is currently integrated with Microsoft 365, Teams and our new MyPinellas intranet.

Why the change?
To provide a more user-friendly learning experience.

What’s in it for me?
Easy course registration is in one spot. All learning resources are at your fingertips. A customized dashboard is available for your course enrollments and completions.

Is MyLearning easier to use than EBS (OPUS)?
Learners are telling us that MyLearning is very easy to use. Don’t take their word for it—give it a try and share your feedback.

What are some of the big changes with MyLearning?
MyLearning makes it easier to access courses throughout Pinellas County. The biggest changes are the look, feel, and user experience. You are still able to access your learning history, only now through your own personal dashboard!

Should I sign up for courses through both EBS (OPUS) and MyLearning?
Sign up in MyLearning only.  

Should I still use EBS (OPUS) for other processes such as timecard and leave requests?
Yes, EBS (OPUS) is still used for tasks not related to learning and development opportunities.  

Does my supervisor still have to approve my attendance in a course?
Yes, supervisors continue to approve course enrollments.   

How do I enroll in a course?

  • Go to MyLearning.
  • Choose the Course Catalog tile.
  • Search for the course.
  • Click View Course.
  • Choose the Session you desire.
  • Select Enroll in Course.  

What are the 3 different views for the Course Catalog and how do I select my personal favorite?
The 3 ways to view the Course Catalog are: Card, List, or Calendar. The default is the Card view, but once you select an alternative view, that view will become your default going forward.

To change your view, click the icon of your preference above All Courses. 

  • Card view provides an overview of the courses and the Learning Plans of the catalog, where course and Learning Plan cards are displayed in a grid.
  • List view provides and overview of the courses and the Learning Plans of the catalog, presented in a vertical scrollable list.
  • Calendar view provides an overview of instructor-led course sessions for a certain day, week, or month.

What training is available?
Learning & Development is offering demos of MyLearning as requested. If you have questions, email us at learning@pinellas.gov.

What if the course I want to take is already full?
You will be able to be waitlisted. If a cancellation occurs, you will be notified by email and given the opportunity to enroll in the course.

Can I automatically add my course to my Outlook calendar?
Yes! When you have been approved to take a course, you will receive a confirmation email which will allow you to add the course directly to your Outlook calendar with a single click.

Can I track the courses that I have taken?
Yes, through the MyLearning Dashboard. Select My Dashboard, and you will be able to see your learning status along with new courses you take through MyLearning.

Can my manager track my progress?
Yes, your manager can track your progress, including course completions and any awarded certificates and skills.

How do I find out who is facilitating a course?
There are several ways to see who is facilitating a course. When you search courses in the Course Catalog using either the list or card view, the instructor will be listed. You can also click to view the course and the instructor will be listed in the course details.

Do I have access to course materials through MyLearning?
Yes. When you click to view a course, the course materials are in the Course Description section.

How do I cancel a course if I can no longer attend?
Access My Dashboard and click on the course you wish to cancel. In the Sessions section, click on Unenroll in Course or Cancel Request.

What happens to my course completions that were in EBS (OPUS)?
Your learning history has been migrated into MyLearning. Take a look at your personalized dashboard under transcript for your course completions. You can export your transcript into a PDF format.

I have annual certifications that I need to maintain. Will I be notified before they expire?
Yes. You will receive several emails: one 60 days before expiration, one 30 days before expiration, one 14 days before expiration, and one 7 days before expiration. You will also be notified should your certification expire.

What if I see something on my dashboard that does not look correct?
Just let us know at learning@pinellas.gov and we will review and get back to you.

Does this change affect my Career Path progress?
No, it does not impact any progress in your Career Path.

Are there changes in the courses offered?
No, the courses that were available in EBS (OPUS) are still available.

Do I have to be on a County computer to access MyLearning?
No, you can access MyLearning on your home computer or a mobile device by logging into SharePoint or using the SharePoint app.
