Update #3: County offices open Monday; parks to reopen at 10 a.m.
Latest storm/incident developments
- Tropical Storm Debby is moving past the Tampa Bay area in the Gulf of Mexico in a northerly direction.
- A Tropical Storm Warning and Storm Surge Warning remain in effect for Pinellas County through Monday. Storm surge of up to 4 feet and additional rainfall of 4 to 6 inches is forecast overnight into the early morning hours. Street flooding is likely in low-lying areas at high tide.
- The heaviest rain and wind are expected to subside by mid-morning Monday, but anyone traveling should exercise caution on the roads and intersections without power.
Pinellas County response/action
- Pinellas County offices will be open during normal business hours on Monday, Aug. 5.
- All County parks, preserves and boat ramps will reopen at 10 a.m. after staff have an opportunity to assess any storm damage.
- The County Information Center (CIC) will be open overnight Sunday, Aug. 4, and on Monday, Aug. 5, until 5 p.m. Call (727) 464-4333.
- Online chat at www.bit.ly/PinellasChat will end Sunday at 10 p.m. and resume Monday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Advice & Information for Residents
- Avoid driving on flooded roadways. One foot of water can carry a car away. Turn around, don’t drown.
- Do not wade through floodwaters, which could have live power lines, sewage, wildlife and dangerous objects.
- Report issues such as downed traffic lights, broken traffic signs or other damage to public infrastructure through SeeClickFix at pinellas.gov/SeeClickFix.
- If your home or business received flood damage, photograph and list all damaged or lost items before you clean up or move any debris. Contact your insurance company to file a claim.
- Pinellas County is documenting any damages from Tropical Storm Debby to apply for potential state and federal emergency assistance.
