Public Works Coastal Management Honored for Outstanding Service

Pinellas County Public Works has been chosen for the 2024 Florida Shore & Beach Preservation Association’s Outstanding Service Award. The award recognizes Pinellas County’s efforts to rapidly design and construct emergency sand dunes to restore storm protection after Hurricane Idalia.
Specifically named are Public Works director Kelli Hammer Levy, Coastal Management Coordinator John Bishop and coastal scientist Zach Westfall, and project manager Rob Burnes. Pictured below are those four and the broader team of Public Works and Communications staff who were involved in the project. The award was announced in the September edition of Shoreline.
