East Lake Road/Tarpon Woods Boulevard Intersection Lane Extension

Project Overview

The overall project consisted of adding an additional northbound travel lane on East Lake Road, beginning south of the intersection of Tarpon Woods Boulevard and extending north through the intersection. The existing roadway had two northbound travel lanes and dedicated turning lanes on the east and west. The posted speed limit is 50 mph.

The project turned the chevron-striped area (next to the westbound turn lane) and into a travel lane, and the intersection was repaved and restriped.

Additionally, the concrete island on the east side of the intersection was removed, and the median on Tarpon Woods Boulevard shortened to create a new crosswalk. The dedicated eastbound turn lane onto Tarpon Woods Boulevard remains.
