Petition to Vacate a Public Right of Way or Easement
Development Review Services coordinates application requests for releases and vacations of public right of way or easements.
A petition is a formal request to vacate a public right of way or easement. The vacation process is governed by F.S.177.101 or F.S. 336.09. The Pinellas County Review determination process is outlined in Pinellas County Land Development Code Article V, Division 4. Right of Way Vacations and Easement Terminations.
Petition to Vacate Request
- First review the Application Process Instructions. If you would like to discuss a proposed vacation prior to applying, please contact us at petitiontovacate@pinellas.gov to schedule a phone call or early assistance meeting.
- Second, submit a complete Petition to Vacate Application. Any required documentation not included with your submitted application should be mailed or hand-delivered to the address below. (It is recommended that you also retain copies of all documents for your records.)
Please note that regardless of any staff objections that may arise from the above-mentioned review process, the applicant has the full right and ability to submit the Petition-to-Vacate application and proceed to the Board of County Commissioners for the Board to consider the petition.
