Gone But Not Forgotten

The Pen is saddened to report the passing of a former employee:

Suzanne Pascarella, recently employed by the Public Works Department, passed away on June 7, 2024, at the age of 57. Suzanne left County employment in November 2023 due to her illness. Ms. Pascarella served as a Contract Services Specialist 2 with the Public Works Contracts Group, within the Customer Service Division, from May 2019 – November 2023. Prior to that time, Suzanne was employed as a Buyer in the Pinellas County Purchasing Department beginning in January 2015. Suzanne was married to Mr. Timothy Coomer. She also had a daughter Aimee and grandchildren Cody, Kailee, Arabella and Arriana. Ms. Pascarella was born and raised in Ridgewood, New Jersey. During her youth, Suzanne’s family moved to Miami, then Fort Myers and eventually Ocala, where she attended and completed high school. Suzanne spent a significant portion of her life (approximately 15-20 years) residing in Brooklyn, New York and working in Manhattan before relocating to Connecticut. Suzanne met her future husband Timothy in October 2013 while in Dallas attending a tradeshow. After making that important connection, she relocated to Dunedin in the summer of 2014, where she lived the remainder of her life. County employees may make a donation to the Pancreatic Cancer Network through www.pancan.org.

The Pen is saddened to report the passing of the following retirees:

Melissa Beem, 61, of Inverness, passed away on March 12, 2024. Beem retired in 2017 as a Management Analyst with the Tax Collector’s Office after 25 years of service with Pinellas County Government. View her obituary.

Saundra Caldwell, 79, of Seminole, passed away on May 4, 2024. Caldwell retired in 2011 as a Special Projects Assistant with the Clerk’s Office after over 39 years of service with Pinellas County Government. No obituary was found.

Mary Ann Hession, 85, of Lakeland, passed away on March 27, 2024. Hession retired in 2003 as a Court Records Specialist 2 with the Clerk’s Office after over 7 years of service with Pinellas County Government. View her obituary.

Daniel Kane, 83, of Belleair, passed away on May 23, 2024. Kane retired in 2010 as an Office Specialist with the Property Appraiser’s Office after over 12 years of service with Pinellas County Government. View his obituary.

Clifton Pierce, 76, of Margate, passed away on May 9, 2024. Pierce retired in 2013 as an Engineering Tech with Public Works after over 33 years of service with Pinellas County Government. No obituary was found.

Congratulations

Neil Lillo, HVAC Mechanic with Administrative Services, has earned his A.S.E. (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) Advanced Level L-3 Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Certification and looks forward to serving tomorrow’s environmentally friendly green fleet.

Kudos

Kudos to Thomas Salanito, son of Kara Salanito (Clerk of the Circuit Court – Court Assistance) and her husband, Charles Salanito (retired Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office), for graduating from Florida Gulf Coast University on May 4.
