Boardwalk under Repair due to Storm Damage

A section of the Sawgrass Lake Park boardwalk is currently closed because of fallen trees and extensive damage from a recent thunderstorm. Our Parks and Public Works teams are on-site assessing the damage, and we expect repairs to begin later this summer, with full completion by Spring 2026.

Thank you for your patience as we work to restore the damaged area. We’re excited to reopen it for everyone to enjoy soon!

You may still enjoy:

  • The observation tower, which offers great views of the lake.

  • Our natural hiking trail, perfect for a relaxing walk among the trees.

  • The rest of the boardwalk, which remains open and safe to explore.

Sawgrass Lake Park is 400 acres in the Lealman community of unincorporated Pinellas County and is the result of a unique cooperative agreement between Pinellas County Parks & Conservation Resources and the Southwest Florida Water Management District. This park has one of the largest maple swamps on the Gulf Coast, which allows people to view a variety of wildlife. Thousands of birds migrate through the park during the fall and spring.

Fishing is prohibited inside the park.
