Accomplishments

Alert Pinellas

Free emergency notification system sends alerts via text, phone and emails.

  • In 2023, 455 notifications were sent through Alert Pinellas for evacuations, severe weather, tornadoes, water service outages and more.
  • Over 80,000 people are signed up for this free service.
  • Sign up for Alert Pinellas.
Youth Outreach

Initiative with Pinellas County Schools shared preparedness messaging with students.

  • 21 elementary schools collected hurricane kit supplies that were donated to local food pantries.
  • A contest challenged middle school students to create posters on hurricane risks and safety actions.
  • Youth Ambassadors from high schools presented emergency safety to middle school classes.

 

Whole Community

Partnerships throughout the county help connect with the whole community.

  • 3,238 hurricane kits were assembled in 2023, with additional kits distributed in vulnerable areas throughout the 2024 season.
  • 140 people attended Deaf Day in 2023 with the next event planned for August 10, 2024.
  • Continue to engage with individuals who are blind or with low vision in partnership with service providers.
